Meet Paul: The Author Behind Hidden Road Books

Welcome to Hidden Road Books. I’m Paul, an author with a love of dark stories, old places and the mysteries that linger just beyond the edge of the familiar.

By day, I work as an HGV driver, travelling the roads and meeting people along the way. Those journeys give me plenty of time to think—and I’ve always felt that every road has a story waiting to be told. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, travelling and creating tales that take readers somewhere unexpected.

My current project is The Curse of Appleside Asylum, a paranormal Gothic novel set in a military hospital during the First World War. It began with an old hospital, a troubling past and the question of what might remain when the people who suffered there are forgotten. As the story has grown, so have its characters, mysteries and haunted corners. I’m developing it chapter by chapter, with care for its atmosphere and the people at its heart.

Hidden Road Books is where I’m bringing these ideas together. I want it to be a home for imaginative stories with a shadowy edge—books that invite you to step off the familiar path and follow a road that may lead somewhere strange.
